Biography
Die in Freiburg im Breisgau geborene Flötistin Wally Hase erhielt ihre erste prägende Ausbildung bei Prof. Karl Friedrich Mess. 1986 nahm sie ihr Studium an der Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart auf, nachdem sie im selben Jahr ein Stipendium zum Weltjugendorchester in die USA geführt hatte. Ihr Studium setzte sie bei Prof. Jean-Claude Gérard und Prof. Aurèle Nicolet fort.
Als Mitglied des Festspielorchesters Ludwigsburg führten sie Tourneen nach China, Japan und Südamerika. 1989 konzertierte sie in Neuseeland beim Festival of the Arts, 1990 war sie Stipendiatin der Richard-Wagner-Gesellschaft Bayreuth. Zwischen 1990 und 1993 musizierte sie im Ensemble 13 Karlsruhe sowie im Bach Collegium Stuttgart unter der Leitung von Helmuth Rilling.
Bereits vor Abschluss ihres Studiums wurde sie im Alter von 22 Jahren Soloflötistin der Staatskapelle Weimar, eine Position, die sie bis 2009 innehatte. Seit 2008 verbindet sie eine regelmäßige Zusammenarbeit mit der Camerata Salzburg, deren Soloflötistin sie seit 2013 ist.
Als Soloflötistin arbeitet sie u. a. mit der Cappella Andrea Barca unter der Leitung von Sir András Schiff, mit der Staatskapelle Dresden, den Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchestern von SWR, MDR und WDR zusammen.
Neben ihrer solistischen Tätigkeit widmet sie sich intensiv der Kammermusik. Sie konzertiert mit dem Trio Lobkowitz Wien, im Duo mit dem Gitarristen Thomas Müller-Pering sowie mit dem Mandelring Quartett. Literarisch-musikalische Projekte „Musik & Lyric“ verbindet sie mit Jan Philipp Reemtsma.
Für ihre künstlerischen Einspielungen wurde sie 2006 mit dem Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik und 2007 mit dem Leopold ausgezeichnet.
Im Jahr 2000 wurde sie als Professorin für Flöte an die Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar berufen. Von 2014 bis 2018 hatte sie eine Gastprofessur an der Akademia Muzyczna w Krakowie inne. Seit Oktober 2018 ist sie Universitätsprofessorin für Flöte an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien.
Ein reiches internationales Konzertleben mit Recitals, Solokonzerten und Kammermusik, zahlreiche Rundfunk- und CD-Aufnahmen sowie eine internationale Jurytätigkeit dokumentieren die Vielseitigkeit ihres künstlerischen Wirkens.

Born in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany Wally Hase was student of Prof. Karl Friedrich Mess. In 1986 she began her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, following a scholarship that took her to the World Youth Orchestra in the USA. She later continued her studies with Prof. Jean-Claude Gérard and Prof. Aurèle Nicolet.
As a member of the Ludwigsburg Festival Orchestra, she toured China, Japan and South America. In 1989 she performed in New Zealand at the Festival of the Arts, and in 1990 she was awarded a scholarship by the Richard Wagner Society Bayreuth. From 1990 to 1993 she performed with Ensemble 13 Karlsruhe and the Bach Collegium Stuttgart under the direction of Helmuth Rilling.
Before completing her studies, at the age of 22, she became principal flute of the Staatskapelle Weimar, a position she held until 2009. Since 2008 she has maintained a close collaboration with the Camerata Salzburg, becoming its principal flutist in 2013.
As a solo flutist she has worked with Cappella Andrea Barca under the direction of Sir András Schiff, with the Staatskapelle Dresden, and with the symphony orchestras of SWR, MDR and WDR.
Alongside her solo career, she is deeply committed to chamber music, performing with Trio Lobkowitz Wien, in duo with guitarist Thomas Müller-Pering, and with the Mandelring Quartett. Literary-musical projects titled “Musik & Lyric” connect her with Jan Philipp Reemtsma.
Her recordings have been awarded the German Record Critics’ Prize (2006) and the Leopold Prize (2007).
In 2000 she was appointed Professor of Flute at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar. From 2014 to 2018 she held a visiting professorship at the Akademia Muzyczna w Krakowie. Since October 2018 she has been Professor of Flute at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien.
An extensive international concert career with recitals, concerto appearances and chamber music, numerous radio and CD recordings, and international jury engagements document the breadth of her artistic work.
